Los Angeles - Shopping

California is known for its' sunny skies and fantastic shopping, but with so many different options, where do you start? Escada and Louis Vuitton on Rodeo or Kitson and Lisa Kline on Robertson? Every year new stores open and with each season, styles are updated. Depending on how much you're interested in spending, La2Day has come up with five prime locations that you have to swing by and take a look (or two).

LA2DAY'S Top 5 Shopping Stops:

1) Third Street Promenade (Santa Monica): Our favorite. Although many have spent a lot of time living in LA, the Third Street Promenade never fails to brighten up the day. The shopping mall is very close to the ocean accented by a cool sea breeze, light and bright architecture, fun street performers, and a lot of shops. The Promenade is also very close to Main Street, another must see stop in Santa Monica. Park you car in the parking structure underneath Santa Monica Place Mall. You can enter via Broadway and it's free for three hours entering before 5PM.

2) Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills): For more high-priced items the three blocks of Rodeo Drive has come to attract only haute couture clothing lines. Slightly less expensive are the designer stores on Robertson Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and 3rd Street. But of course, Rodeo Drive is one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. Around Christmas time, the decorations are astonishing. And who hasn't seen the movie Pretty Woman, which was shot in the hotel opposite the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. If you need an engagement ring for your future fiancée, checkout Tiffany's just across the way. (I did and went broke, but got a great diamond).

3) The Grove (Hollywood): A fairly new addition the Los Angeles shopping scene is the Grove, right on the corner of 3rd Street and Fairfax. The outdoor mall is located right next to the Farmer's Market and has every shop you can think of. It's a great place to grab a bite, hang out, and do some serious shopping. The mall actually looks like a quaint town or village, equipped with a waterworks show every hour on the hour. The mock city hall building is actually an Abercrombie & Fitch store, catering to the young and beautiful.

4) Hollywood and Highland (Hollywood): The Hollywood & Highland complex houses shops, clubs, restaurants, the Kodak Theatre (home to the Oscars), and even the Hollywood Costume Museum. Although it cost $615 million to build, the shopping complex brings back some of the glitter and glamour that Hollywood's known for. Right outside, you'll find the famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame with the "stars" literally underneath your feet on the pavement. We find it a nice place to hang out, have a coffee at Starbucks, see the Hollywood sign, or catch a movie. The Renaissance Hotel, just behind the mall, would be a good stay for checking out the area.

5) Melrose Avenue (Hollywood): Consider yourself a hipster? Then head to Melrose! Although it ain't what it used to be, say compared to 5 years ago, you'll still find new and funky stores emerging all of the time. Checkout the shops on Melrose between La Brea and Fairfax Avenue. You'll find little boutiques and clothes you couldn't imagine ever existed. Grab a burger at Johnny Rockets, a "Malibu Dream" at the Coffee Bean, or a refreshing smoothie from Jamba Juice. In short, Melrose is a great area to spend a few dollars and grab a refreshing drink.
