Campus MovieFest at Paramount, Top 3 with Patton Oswalt

This year's Campus MovieFest was held at none other than Paramount Studios. The red carpet was adorned with young college filmmakers, college bands, celebrity guests and presenters, and the host of the evening, 30 Rock's Scott Adsit. One of the guests and presenters, Christian Slater, made his way over to share a piece of advice for the young film makers being honored this very night: "Let your roadblocks be your inspirations ambition to excellence and not your deterrent to your dreams."

Campus MovieFest is a key player in breaking those roadblocks down for the young, aspiring filmmaker.

It started eight years ago when four students at Emory University came together and provided every tool needed by students to make a film in one week. Since then over 200,000 students have been able to tell their stories on the big screen.

In this year's tour, 75,000 students have participated in over fifty events, earning $400,000 in prizes and the chance to see their films on the big screen.

As the filmmakers and presenters made their way into the theatre for the announcement ceremony of the winning films, I was taken up to the green room to have a quick chat with funny man Patton Oswalt. Patton could certainly vibe with the young filmmakers being honored tonight. He recently starred in the indie film, which he actually would describe more as "a project that happened to be filmed," Big Fan. Big Fan was also nominated at the Sundance Film Festival for the Grand Jury Prize.
