A Romantic Getaway to HGTV’s Dream Home in a National Park Setting
By Adrienne Papp FOR LA2DAY.COM 04 Jun 2008
I'm really a city person, involved in an industry that is based in Los Angeles. I spend a lot of time at fundraisers, charities, screenings and all kinds of events reporting on celebrities along with the activities surrounding them. Life gets hectic and it never stops.
So it was a real eye-opener when I got an invitation to visit a new resort-like development called Grey Rock located in western North Carolina. The location also hosts the breathtaking Dream Home of the Year awarded by Home and Garden Television. Talk about top luxury, perfect interiors and first class architecture by world-renowned interior designers and architects. Cruising around in its endless rooms I felt there would be no better place to live. The comfort is heavenly and homey. If HGTV found the location ideal, I thought, what other treasures might be found in this mountain paradise?
Turns out nothing could have really prepared me for the unspoiled mountain scenery that unfolded embracing the beautiful Lake Lure, which you can enjoy from the bottom-to ceiling windows of your Dream Home's plush bedroom. Sit outside by the humongous fireplace sipping your favorite wine, or just spend the evening stretching out on the sexy king size bed of an outdoor bedroom enjoying this majestic scenery. Surrounded by an open panoramic view, nothing could be more romantic - it is a postcard vision come to life, like having your own personal national park.
You fly into Ashville airport whether on your private jet or a commercial liner and jump on a boat, or go skiing, golfing, kayaking or just wonder around in nature never wanting to leave. Grey Rock is some of the last untouched wilderness areas in the country with fourteen large natural waterfalls and numerous streams. It wasn't really a surprise to hear that filmmakers had used the location for movies like Dirty Dancing and The Last of the Mohicans just to mention a few.
An investment-consulting firm headed by Ron Berg oversees this extraordinary site. Berg, with a Ivy League MBA and 25-years of experience makes sure that those interested in making this heaven their second or third home will be in real good hands. For those of us wanting to make a nice return on a purchase can profit surprisingly high (at least 150%) due to the parameters and strong demographic growth associated with the place. And if all of the above was not enough, the community area will include 2 clubhouses, multiple pools, tennis courts, an equestrian center, 3 helipads, libraries and dozens of hiking, biking, and horse trails all in perfect tranquility and serenity.
If you enjoy city-life amenities, like me, Asheville, the largest city in western NC, a 30-minute drive, offers plenty of nightlife and a wealth of first class restaurants. It has a touch of New Orleans in it and feels bohemian and cozy at the same time.
Here is the very best part: As featured in the Hollywood Reporter, Grey Rock is currently offering courtesy visits. You pay only your airfare but get a $ 3,000 value to stay at the Dream Home for free. So, you can be a movie star for a weekend on the Land of a Thousand Dreams.
