Mixology: Jet Set, Straight Up, at The London

In keeping with our "Drown your sorrows and pretend you're not in America"-themed weekend, we bring you a little slice of the UK, straight up, in a sugar-rimmed martini glass.

Just below the hard-living Rock n' Roll Corridor on Sunset Boulevard, there's a posh little nook called the Bar at the recently opened London West Hollywood Hotel.

Breeze through Gordon Ramsey's restaurant, have a seat at the white marble bar, and get lost in the gilded chandeliers and dark wood panels. (Or if you're particularly scrappy, make friends with a hotel guest and sneak up to the rooftop for a nightcap in the cabanas).

We did a little taste test the other night and managed to squeeze out the juicy details on our two favorite cocktails: The London and the Acai Lemonade.

The London
Sugar Rim Martini Glass
¾ oz. Plymouth Gin
¾ oz. Lillet
1 oz. Grapefruit Juice
Top with Champagne
Serve straight up

Açai Lemonade
¾ oz. Veev Açai liqueur
1 oz. Absolut Vodka
Top with Lemonade
Splash of Cranberry Juice
Serve on the rocks

So be posh! Make yourself a homemade "London" gin-tini, toss on something fierce, and head over to this swank, intimate scene before the whole world finds out about it. 'Cause then you'll never get in.
