Holy Happy Hour!: LA2DAY Goes To Lola's

Happy Hour at Lola's:
A Martini Feeding Frenzy

Step into a rustic oasis amidst busy city streets at Lola's restaurant and bar on Fairfax. The quaint and welcoming exterior, with classic arched entryways, houses an eccentric lounge suited for the twenty to thirty-something crowd. Lola's oversized, aged door unleashes a scene of hip Hollywood décor, offset by comfortable and classic accents. The trendy layout combines leopard print furnishings with old- world flair to enhance a comfortable, upbeat attitude. The main dining room exudes style in a large back area, favorably located away from the bustling bar for a somewhat calm dining experience. Around the corner a sleek, black bar section is perfect for sipping on a cool cocktail, incorporating leopard print chairs and bar stools accented by martini logos. My favorite room houses a large, vintage pool table equipped with even more leopard trimmings and leads into Lola's "kick back" foyer. A few cozy chairs and another sizeable bar allow patrons to sit back and lavishly relax, while perusing the incoming flow of eager visitors.

I decided to hit up Lola's for their infamous happy hour, on weekdays from 5:30 to 7:30, and soaked in the entire experience... or maybe that was my apple martini? Regardless, I came to find that this lush, yet rustic restaurant and bar is unique in more ways than one. Lola's happy hour serves up drinks for five dollars and appetizers for only five fifty. Their homemade recipe for the "Apple Martini" has proven to be a customer favorite over the years, but feel free to sample anything from the "Flaming Colossus" to the delectable "Star F**ker." The "Thin White Duke" is my personal favorite, as it combines vanilla and white chocolate with a dark cocoa rim. Besides the innovative cocktail collection, appetizers are definitely worth the five bucks with dishes like crab cakes, pizza, and ahi tuna tacos!

Lola's unquestionably gives patrons a wide array of delicious martinis and chooses to spotlight a distinct type of Vodka every month. This June pays sole attention to "Absolut" Vodka, which you won't want to miss. My recommendation: get to Lola's on the early side to reserve a spot by the busy pool table or to grab a comfy leopard print couch. Lola's happy hour proves to unload spectacular martinis at a great price, accompanied by lavish décor and friendly fellow bar- hoppers.
