ALS Honors Y&R and Kate Linder

On Friday, April 11, 2008, the ALS Association and Kate Linder presented the "Partners in Hope Award" to the producers of The Young and the Restless for helping the not-for-profit organization produce its most widely seen television public service announcement with Kate Linder and her brother-in-law, Scott Buzzell, an ALS victim. Her sister-in-law has received a framed letter of recognition for Scott.
In addition to Linder, other attendees included from The Young and the Restless; Judith Chapman (Gloria), Daniel Goddard (Cane), Amelia Heinle (Victoria), Thad Luckinbill (J.T.), Emily O'Brien (Jana) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). Also Allison Arngrim (ex-Nellie, Little House on the Prairie), Rachelle Begley(N.Y.P.D. Blue, 8 Simple Rules...), Matt Borlenghi (ex-Ziggy, The Bold and the Beautiful, ex-Brian, All My Children), Jennifer Gaeris (Donna, The Bold and the Beautiful), Dennis Haskins (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, JAG), Ashley Jones (Bridget, The Bold and the Beautiful), Lesli Kay (Felicia, The Bold and the Beautiful), Barbara Lazaroff, Catherine Mary Stewart (ex-Naomi, Guiding Light, Weekend at Bernie's) , Elizabeth Sung (ex-Luan, The Young and the Restless, The Sopranos), Judy Tenuta and Joan Van Ark (Nip/Tuck, ex-Valene, Dallas, Knot's Landing). The last two weeks have been a rollercoaster ride for The Young and the Restless as it reached its 35th Anniversary mark on March 26th and 1000th week as the #1 Daytime Drama and Kate Linder, who celebrates 26 years as the loyal friend and maid to Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper)Esther Valentine.
Kate has, in addition, received a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on April 10th at 7021 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood. Linder is celebrity spokesperson for The ALS Association , the pre-eminent leader in the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease, following her relative's diagnosis. Linder was elected Governor of Daytime Programming Peer Group for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and she was recently reelected to a second term. She is also a board member for AFTRA and for TV Cares, the Academy of Television Arts and Science's AIDS fundraising and awareness charity. Linder is active in many other charities including Make-A-Wish of Los Angeles, the Salvation Army, the Los Angeles Mission and many AIDS charities.
