The Place To See A Movie In Los Feliz
By Chris Virnig FOR LA2DAY.COM 23 Jul 2008

If you’re ever in the Los Feliz area of Hollywood and want to check out a flick, what better place than the Los Feliz 3? Nestled amongst a series of shops on Vermont Avenue, this theater is ideally situated to quench your movie-going needs without sapping more of your time than is necessary.
Indeed, after catching a movie on one of the place’s three screens, most patrons make their way toward the consortium of eateries that are within a stone’s throw from the ticket booth. Fred 62, Palermo, House of Pies, and the Electric Lotus are all sure-fire places where you and your friends can grab a bite and discuss whether The Dark Knight was that good or if Space Chimps is worthy of an Academy Award nomination.
Already one of the more underrated areas of Los Angeles, Los Feliz gets another feather in its cap for having so quaint a movie house featuring $4 matinee ticket prices. How’s that for adding zip to your day off? If you’re among the many who live within walking distance, so much the better!
The theater itself does a fine job of accommodating different filmic tastes by offering chic independent films alongside the trendy blockbusters. Don’t be surprised if The Dark Knight doesn’t make its way on the billboard until its second week. Last year, for example, Oscar winner No Country For Old Men was playing along with Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.
Can anyone say double feature?
The amenities aren’t up to par with Arclight or AMC. But then again, that’s the whole point. In throwback fashion, the ticket booth sits outside the main doors and the lone concession stand greets you upon entering the building. Furthermore, there is some differentiation between the three screens. The main stage, housing whatever film is the “biggest,” is the largest by far (both in screen size and in available seats). Screens two and three, on the other hand, are much smaller but still represent great places to watch a movie. I saw Hollywoodland on one of the smaller screens and wouldn’t trade the experience for anything…
The Los Feliz 3 might be a neighborhood attraction, but it’s one of the cooler little places around.
