Hot Fuzz

Hot Fuzz: Simon Pegg plays Sergeant Nicholas Angel - a "by the book" cop that makes his London colleagues look inadequate, so much so that they conspire to transfer him to a small, sleepy village with non-existent crime.

Sergeant Angel begins to suspect something is amiss as more and more seemingly unrelated accidents take on a sinister twist. How can the accident rate be so high and crime rate so low in one city?

This film is a marvelously executed cop spoof, replete with witty dialogue, expletives, explosions, and great editing. Edgar Wright has the eye for capturing the best angles to establish the scenes. With great cameo appearances from Bill Nighy, Steve Coogan and Martin Freeman, the story progresses a bit slowly. The run time is 121 minutes. I found the over-the-top and in-your-face fun finger-poking at the Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer action films incredibly timed and well acted.

The most interesting and thought provoking idea was that Sergeant Angel's inability to "switch off" his cop mode. He is constantly searching for evidence to support his theory that there is a killer out there. In the end, he finds his man (or rather, his men). This is such an innate human quality: Fixation. As humans, we fixate on one point of view and are always looking for anything that will back us up.

Hot Review

Well done! Nice, concise breakdown of the movie. Covering the points necessay to give the reader a basic idea of the story line with out the typical "play-by-play" that ends up being a spoiler.

Interesting, personal touch at the end of the review. Too often reviews seem superficial. I like that you saw something deeper, even in a action-packed, comedy driven film such as this one.

Keep up the great work Ms. Bautista. I'm looking forward to reading many more of your reviews here.
