DVD Releases for May 20th

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

The follow-up to 2004's box-office smash is no less a big-budget extravaganza than that other action/adventure movie being released this week.  Nicholas Cage reprises his role as Ben Gates, the beguiled treasure hunter who's out to prove his great-grandfather's innocence, and if he has any time left over, uncover the world's most treasured secrets.  With a Blu-ray and 2 disc Collector's Edition also being released, audiences are sure to walk away saying, "Indy who?"

The Muppet Show: Season Three

This four disc set includes all 24 episodes from the 1978-1979 season, digitally remastered and guaranteed to entertain both parents and children.  Creator Jim Henson's wickedly absurd brand of humor is at its finest in such memorable skits as Pigs in Space and Muppet News Flash.  And who can forget the crazy antics of the bushy-eyed Swedish Chef?  This is one cooking show where gourmet food is never expected.

Short Circuit [Blu-ray]

Johnny Five is alive!  At least in Blu-ray.  The campy 1986 robot comedy is the quintessential guilty pleasure movie that everyone's seen, but no one will admit to. Included in the extras are interviews with Ally Sheedy, who would go on to star in a string of successful "Brat Pack" comedies, and Steve Guttenberg, who would later star in Police Academy 4.

Square Pegs - The Complete Series

Before she was Carrie Bradshaw on HBO's Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker played the awkward teenager Patty Greene on the short-lived CBS sitcom Square Pegs.  Although critically acclaimed for its realistic portrayal of teenage life, the series only lasted for a season and is now being issued on DVD to coincide with the release of the Sex and the City movie.  Keep a lookout for a cameo by John Densmore, drummer for The Doors.
