An Advance Sneak Preview: The Movies Section
By Victor Ho FOR LA2DAY.COM 13 May 2008

We'd like to present an all-new Movies section for your clicking enjoyment. Starting on May 16, we will talk about all things movies, TV, and what's the buzz on the Internet every day. In fact, every day is a good day to get the blurbs on the entertainment scene from LA2DAY writers who are actively pursuing their dreams. Some of us are screenwriters, directors, and just plain writers who like to play with words.
Returning writers Matthew Sidney Long, Chris Virnig, and Victor Ho continue to produce insightful movie articles from not only mainstream movies but also the foreign imports and independent sleeper hits. Marisa Lynch joins the team and shares a collection of goodies in her unique column Let Me Entertain You. This month, we also drafted some new writers. James Famera, Joe Wehinger, and Greg Sidman will give the Movies section a more diverse voice and opinion. Keep your eyes and ears alert to these creative talents.
So what can you expect from us?
Monday: Movie Talk - We talk about anything that has to do with movies whether it is about celebrities or making it in Hollywood. We might list our favorite movie genres or discuss film noir in LA. It may even be something you, the reader, want to talk about.
Tuesday: All Things DVD - Are you curious to know what to rent? How about if the DVD extras are worth watching? Or what should be in your Netflix queue? Find out what DVDs the LA2DAY writers are renting or buying.
Wednesday: The It Factor - Who will be the next big thing? A screenwriter that sold a million dollar spec... a director promoted through a film festival... a background actor with a first starring role. We want to know the people Hollywood doesn't know.
Thursday: All Things TV - From the network to cable... reality TV to game shows... sitcom reruns to compete seasons on DVD, we love watching TV, too.
Friday: Movie Reviews - You may not find a review of the #1 movie everybody is talking about. We can read that in The Hollywood Reporter or Variety. But what you will find are movies recommended by our LA2DAY writers. These movies may not be in the top 5 box office lists by the weekend, but they are movies worth seeing. If we do review the #1 movie, it really is worth seeing.
Saturday: Internet Buzz - The future of media is in the digital age. With the popularity of the iPod and YouTube, we thought it be foolish not to talk about all things the Internet. If you got 3 minutes, we got something you should check out or download.
Sunday: On the Town - We focus on what LA2DAY is really about... Less Tinsel. More Town. We discover the movie theatres and the independent films. Whether it is at the Mann's Chinese Theatre or Laemmle's Sunset 5... the drive-in or the dollar theatre, we share our favorite places. If you want to see indies, we can suggest where to go. We might even tell you where to eat before or after the movie.
Finally, we are not movie critics. We stand in line to watch movie premieres. We enjoy watching the movie trailers. We experience the magic of the movies. We live and work in the entertainment industry. Most of all, we love the fast-paced lifestyle that digs its source from LA.
We invite you, the reader, to interact with LA2DAY. Comment on our articles. Debate with us. We love talking about movies and TV especially with you... and Steven Spielberg.
On May 16, microwave a bag of popcorn and we'll see you at the Movies section.
