GOOD GRUB: Rawkin' Raw Food Cooking Classes at Cru

When you arrive at Cru the first thing you will notice is the amazing art on the walls. Giant black and white photographs line the restaurant walls, in true art gallery style . Cru is a cozy spot, perfect for an intimate dinner for two or a quartet of friends. Raw and cooked vegan food created from fresh, organic produce is presented in visually beautiful and stimulating style.

Cru's Chef Rachel Carr is inspired by Asian, South American and Mediterranean cuisines. I would say they really do it well. Their philosophy is that the best meals are preceded or anticeded by healthy mouth-watering desserts. A chef after my own heart! Ahh, raw ice cream bliss in a bowl! But I live in Pasadena and Cru is way over in Silverlake. How can I get that raw food goodness at home? Anyone can eat good healthy food but not all of us are blessed with the food creating gene.

Have no fear! Cru Classes are here, designed to teach you all you need to know to make the very same dishes in the privacy of your own casa. Every Saturday at 10:30, Cru's kitchen opens its' swinging doors and lets in a small, lucky group of would be raw food artists. For an hour and half, you can learn varied dishes including temptations such as desserts, bruschetta and appetizers, and beautiful salads with fabulous dressings. All raw, all good for you, all delectable.

‘Beat the heat and lighten up your dinner routine with quick, easy and delicous soups. Learn yet another amazing way to turn even the most common vegetables into exquisitely tasty gourmet raw meals.'

Admission is 15.00 and taste testing is encouraged. Call ahead to reserve your spot and come early: parking is on the street and you may need to walk a few blocks.
