L.A. Fashion Week at BOXeight
BY Chrissy Humphreys FOR LA2DAY.COM Mar 30, 2010BOXeight Studio reprised its public photo shoot concept this season with Refocus, a three-night event that showcased some of L.A.'s hottest clothiers. We stopped by on Saturday night to check out Michael Costello, Eduardo Lucero, Le Sang des Betes, Lekuin, and Lloyd Klein. Each designer took over a section of the studio to orchestrate his "presentation." Basically everyone gets to watch as models are styled, instructed, and photographed. Even the hair and make-up station is out in the open. But because there's music and drinks and it's crowded with people, guests feel like spectators rather than voyeurs.
Anyway, on to the clothes.
Costello's couture was avant-garde while remaining indulgently gorgeous:
Lloyd Klein's gowns were elegant and romantic. Red carpet-ready:
Lucero's dresses featured ornate hardware and beadwork, sleeve asymmery, and flowing skirts:
Les Sang de Betes' aesthetic compelled with a dark palette and organic silhouettes:
And Lekuin showed the shredded shirt look at its prettiest:
