The Look: Ivy Fox
By Dana Kline FOR LA2DAY.COM 04 Sep 2008

It's a long trek from the coast of Melbourne, Australia, to the rustic canyon of Beachwood in the Hollywood Hills of California. With only a suitcase and a vision of singing lascivious dance hits, a zealous 24 year old boarded a plane and landed nearly 8,000 miles away from home.
Meet Ivy Fox. With striking deep set eyes and a sweet but sultry demeanor, her desire to be decorated in flashy spangles and skin tight skirts never goes without recognition.
And while her home is on the other side of the equator, Miss Fox is quite seasonally savvy in the city of angels. With autumn breezes and daylight shortening, it's the perfect time to double up with a mini skirt and leggings, which she executes entirely in wild flair. A silver sequin skirt, perfectly usable as a tube top, emanates a sparkling glitter that naturally creates a sustaining pattern of pulsating spectrums. Much like Ivy's music, the oscillating beats she programs sync with the flicker of her beaded skirt. Underneath the shine, her staple faux snakeskin leggings reminisce of a time when Joan Jett perused back alleys and a Desperately Seeking Susan Madonna strutted salaciously at Danceteria. And all that movement clearly must be accompanied by frenetic patterns of black and white tiger striped boots, adding an extra panache that encompasses Ivy's insouciant character. Animal prints with beaming, flickering garbs, are an inevitably awesome combination when worn with buoyant confidence.
But the unsurpassable piece that I am most impressed by is the butterfly sleeved sequin butterfly top in mint condition. This screams Blanche from The Golden Girls, in the best way possible. The impact of coruscating silvers and blacks creates a whirlwind of visual echoes around the singer's aura. At first glance, the top and bottom morph into a mini-dress of moonlight delight, but as she moves her wing-like arms, it becomes apparent the triple piece montage is a party explosion for the new textile anthem.
With a name like Ivy Fox, how can one expect anything less? She's burning up just in time to cool down.
