Questionnaire: Say Bye Bye to Trendy Fads and Hello to Natalie Hara’s Everlasting Line Natalia Romano

For most of us, or at least speaking from personal experience, we buy into every new trend that hits the market. I mean metallic leggings my friends... c'mon! Well, no need to hang onto those leg warmers that you wore once and tucked away in the closet anymore. Enter Natalie Hara- the Los Angeles based designer who doesn't let anyone come in her way. And don't be fooled by her tiny frame- this chick ain't intimidated by the sewing machine.

Knee deep in fabric at her father's factory, this up and coming street-wear-with-a cocktail-twist designer has been dreaming up flirty, classic looks in her head since she was only seven years old. Now Natalie Hara finally has something to show for her years of inspiration with the launch of the new line Natalia Romano. Perfect for any occasion, Romano fuses glamour with "localite" style to create the most stunning cocktail dresses with a touch of her LA girl persona in the mix. Lucky for you, LA2DAY was able to sit down with this on-the-verge dress designer to get her take on everything from Barbie's 50th Birthday to the comeback of the "choker.

Name: Natalie Hara

Line: Natalia Romano

Hometown: Los Angeles, Ca

Designing for: When I was about 7 years old, I became fascinated by going to my dad, Joe Hara's factory where I would watch about a hundred seamstresses sewing little scraps of fabric that would magically turn into clothing. Almost immediately afterwards, I found myself sitting behind a sewing machine about 3 times my size and weight learning how to sew a scrunchie! (Gotta love the 90's)

Long term goal: I strive to make my label, Natalia Romano, a brand- not a fad, and not something too trendy. I want to be able to do this for the rest of my life and establish a name for myself in this industry.

Inspiration: Finding inspiration for a new collection always comes from different things. What I do first, though, is walk through the fashion district and buy fabrics, beads, feathers, and whatever else catches my eye. I also get inspired by different places in the world, by the "localites" and the street style.

Fashion icons: Where do I start? Tom Ford...Valentino...My newest OBSESSION, however, is Daphne Guinness. Daphne, if you're reading this, can we be friends?

Design style: I always design things I feel that I need in my closet. Everything I wear is super feminine and flirty. My spring 2010 line embodies all of this, with a hint of African and Indian influences.

Greatest accomplishment: My greatest accomplishment, for me, is to be able to live out my dream by launching my line. Aside from that, designing for Barbie for her fiftieth birthday, for the LA Kings for the unveiling of their new jersey, and the Wizard of Oz for their 70th anniversary, has been pretty amazing!

Favorite item: This changes by the minute, but right now, I would have to say, my "sari dress" from my s/s 2010 is my little baby!

What can we find in your closet?
About 200 cocktail dresses and 3 pairs of jeans? Something like that...

Where can you find the best and worst styles?
The best style would have to come from Mr. Valentino, and worst has to be every actress with a clothing line. Stick to what you're good at!

What is your one fashion NO-NO?
I LOVE the natural, carefree look, but I hate the "I just rolled out of bed and I really don't care" look. I don't want to see your flannel pajamas!

Item to bring back: CHOKERS!

What do you consider the best period in fashion?
Without a doubt, when Tom Ford was designing for Gucci and YSL

What's a great fashion tip you can share?
When I go on fashion websites, I always see "choose the celebrity you want to dress like". People should have their own individual styles and not try to emulate someone else. Fashion is all about individuality and self expression through your dress.

So if your in dire need of a summer style pick me up that will last into next year's season. Check out Natalie's new collection at www.nataliaromano.com
