Questionnaire: Nicola Collins & Teena Collins

On set they're like a whirlwind of energy, East-End London dialect coming forth, a wave of their intense eyes and tanned skin, focused and deliberate, one going in one direction the other in the opposite, one with a camera in hand the other with a clothes rack. Snap! Snap! Snap! In an instant we're done and it all looks brilliant.

Once upon a not so distant past Nicola Collins and Teena Collins were models, wandering the catwalks of Europe for Stella McCartney and posing on the pages of Vogue and Elle; they were actors too, playing in Snatch. They've since transitioned behind the camera with Nicola directing and Teena producing The End, a hard-edged bold and brilliant documentary of East-End gangsters, premiering next month in London.
Together they've produced two spreads for LA2DAY, the sweetly clever Uniforms of LA and the quirky cool of These Men Have Moustaches. They'll be working with us soon again on the LA2DAY Fashion Make Over Competition.
Today though, they take our Questionnaire, in which we discuss American Apparel, holes in black leggings and a mutual disdain of fur.
Who is the most stylish person you've met?
Nicola: My twin-sister Teena.
Teena: My father.
If you were to give the world a make-over, how would you style it?
Nicola: I would ban all guys from wearing boot cut pants. I would create AAA, "American Apparel Anonymous," oh and of course torture anyone who condones the torture of animals for style.
Teena: I would make sure everyone was comfortable and confident with their individual style. Style to me isn't about having to wear the latest trends - it is an extension of your personality and individuality. Too many people look uncomfortable - their clothes wear them - they look lost in fashion!
What is your favourite article of clothing?
Nicola: My one-of-a-kind Matthew Williamson dress.
Teena: Aquascutum trench coat.
What is your least favourite article of clothing?
Nicola: I have too much American Apparel in my wardrobe - it's a disease.
Teena: It would have to be my black leggings that are baggy and have holes in - but I can't say goodbye.

In which period of history do you think people dressed the best?
Nicola: 60s mod.
Teena: 70s.
In which period of history do you think people dressed the worst?
Nicola: 80s.
Teena: Victorian - Although visually stunning - how bloody uncomfortable!!
Is there one item that has gone out of style that you wish would come back?
Nicola: 60's mod.
Teena: MC Hammer pants.
Is there one item that is in style that you wish would go out?
Nicola: Fur.
Teena: Fur.
What are you wearing right now?
Nicola: That sounds like a bad chat up line!
Teena: The Who vintage t-shirt, my black leggings (baggy with holes in), some sandals I got from London and a bracelet I made myself
What do you wish you were wearing right now?
Nicola: Stella McCartney's Habotai Silk Bansari jumpsuit
Teena: New black leggings - must go and buy some!
