Questionnaire: Kira Jolliffe
By Jeremy Tarr FOR LA2DAY.COM 18 May 2008

Kira Jolliffe founded the acclaimed British magazine Cheap Date with the accumulation of £800 in poker winnings. When the mag debuted in 1997 it promoted itself as the "antidotal antifashion for thinking thrifters." Vogue called it "the hippest new rag in town." Liv Tyler, Sophie Dahl and Debbie Harry have graced its cover. It's caused some controversy too, organizing a Fashion Strike in London outside of Vogue House - it was cancelled when media outlets claimed foul, calling on the hypocrisy of Cheap Date for using supermodels like Sophie Dahl and Erin O'Connor, clear fashion insiders.
Now Kira Jolliffe and Cheap Date have returned to form with their new book The Cheap Date Guide to Style, the how-to book that promotes the idea of dressing to your natural style - and urges its readers to "forget slavishly following fashion diva dictates, [and to] forget your insecurities." The Guide preaches the charming notion that fashion isn't what's in style, fashion is what's inside.
Kira sits down to answer the Questionnaire and discuss Cleopatra, suede boots and Anna Wintour.
| Who is the most stylish person in the world? There must be a kind, old, feminist academic, elegant with messy hair, lots of ethnic jewellery - dangly earrings, pendant, huge rings, and a loose grey polo-neck out there. Who is the most stylish person you've met? Who is the most stylish person in history? If you were to give the world a make-over, how would you style it? |

What do you wish you were wearing right now?
I wish I'd taken my brown suede boots to be mended for this outfit. I wish I had on a good pair of jeans.

No. Yes, No. Yes. No.
