Good jeans are hard to find

Finding the perfect pair of jeans is like trying to find a decent mate in Los Angeles. You have to be in the right place at the right time. I definitely have had my struggles with denim. If I’m lucky, I will find a nice pair in 1 out of the 10 stores I raided that day. Usually, I’m not so lucky. So when the right pair comes my way, I hold on for dear life.
The reason it’s such a struggle for me is because I don’t have what some may call an “average” type body [I’m about 5’4 with long thin legs, small waist, and 41-inch hips]. Would it be easier if I were a size 2 or 4? Reality is…I’m not a size 2 nor will I ever be. But finding the perfect pair is a problem that exists amongst all sizes and genders. Whether you are male or female, size 2 or 22, finding denim can be difficult. There is a multiplicity of cuts, washes, fits, colors, and lengths. Being the LA2DAY writer that I am, I decided to do a little research on a few of America’s most popular denim:
DKNY:
DKNY Jeans launched in 1992 and is still one of the top selling denim brands in the U.S. This line carries many different choices in jeans for under $70:
Soho (Women): If you enjoy the simple life, you’ll love this classic boot cut. It’s a basic jean that comes in a variety of colors and washes that can fit practically any woman who likes a slim flattering fit.
Ludlow (Women): This is a low rise classic boot cut jean. Actually, it’s the lowest rise in the DKNY line. It has a slim fit that still gives enough coverage to bend over without everyone seeing your Vikki’s Secret.
Bleeker (Men): This is great pair for those men who like a slightly low rise, slim fit. The detailed back pockets give the jeans an extra finesse.
Broadway (Men): Here’s a low rise, slightly relaxed jean. It can be dressed up with a pair of square toe slip-ons or dressed down with flip-flops.
Guess:
Guess was one of the first companies to create designer jeans. During the 1980s, it was one of the most popular brands for both men and women. Guess continues to produce impressive denim without the hefty price tag:
Murphy / Aspen Daredevil Vintage Jean (Women): You’ll enjoy this very low rise, flared leg, vintage style jean. It comes in two colors; the Murphy Destroy Wash (dark) and Aspen Vintage Wash (light).
Charlie Capri (Women): What a cute pair of denim capris! The funky stud details give this straight leg, Bermuda length jean a fashionable look. To top it off, the back pockets have a fold-over fabric detail.
Civil Edward Pant (Men): Who could resist a 100% cotton premium boot cut denim? Unlike women, men choose comfort over fashion. If the fabric wasn’t enough, the unique back pocket detail will keep you interested.
Joe’s Jeans:
Nicole Richie, Gisele Bundchen, Angelina Jolie, Scarlet Johansson, Lindsay Lohan, and Beyonce are a just a few of the celeb fashionistas who have been seen in a pair of Joe’s Jeans. This brand is not for the “economical” spender. The median price for these designer jeans is about $150. But if you’re looking for a trendy great fitting jean, you may have to sacrifice. Joe’s Jeans offer 8 different fits to compliment every body type:
Chelsea (Women): One of my personal favorites, the Chelsea is a skinny jean that has an ultra slim fit. If you dare put these bad boys on, it will look like a “tapered second skin” contoured from the waist to the ankle. Walking around in these will have people wondering how you got them on.
Honey (Women): According to Joe’s, these jeans are for the “voluptuous and sexy” female. It is “fitted at the waist and contoured for the ultra feminine physique.” Anyone who may have a body type like mine would enjoy these “booty fit” jeans.
Brixton Jean (Men): For those men who like the skinny jean trend, these jeans are for you. It is a dark wash jean with a slim leg.
Classic in Wintor (Men): The classic style of this medium blue wash jean gives the pants a worn-in feel. These are a great pair of jeans for men to wear throughout the year.
There are endless choices in denim. Like dating, you will have to go through and try on all the ones that aren’t right for you. But eventually, you will find your perfect fit.
