From 'The Hills' to the Runway

Sex, Lies, and Videotape.  This seems to be the premise of this season's MTV hit, The Hills.  The reality show is based on the life of Lauren Conrad aka LC living in the Hollywood Hills.  The 21 year-old blonde beauty juggles her erratic personal life, an intense internship at Teen Vogue, and school at esteemed FIDM.  But don't let the cute face fool you.  LC is a talented designer that recently introduced her clothing line called the Lauren Conrad Collection.  The collection reflects the laid-back lifestyle of Lauren's Southern California upbringing.  Every look can be transformed from day into night.

The Lauren Conrad Collection has 10 different looks which are cleverly named after LC's friends.  The Maura top has a plunging neckline and thick straps ($85).  This sexy top can be dressed up with skinny jeans and heels or dressed down with yoga pants and flip-flops.  Another versatile top is the London ($100).  It is a "blousen" top with a full sleeve to the elbow and a bonded bottom.  The Jackie Tube Top ($42) is a great layering piece that would go perfect with the Katherine wrap ($140) which can be worn in many different ways.

LC's collection also carries a variety of dresses.  The Sophia is an above-the-knee kimono style dress with a low v-neck and roomy ¾ sleeves ($145).  The Victoria dress ($135) is a simple piece that can be worn over jeans or leggings or on its own.  LC's roommate and new bff, Audrina, wasn't left out when naming each look in the collection.  And like its name sake, the dress is sexy, beautiful, and unique.  The Audrina ($150) has a short hem, spaghetti straps, and a goddess drape on the sides with a fitted piece underneath.  Another friend of the show, Lo, managed to get a dress named after her as well.  The Lo ($130) is a simple strapless above-the-knee dress with a pleated detail down front.  This versatile dress has the capability to be worn to either a beach or a club.  Lauren's co-worker/boss/friend, Whitney, couldn't go unnoticed either.  The Whitney aka Jillian ($145) is a dress with slit sleeves and gold buttons.  It has an a-line cut which will look good on any size or silhouette.

Every clothing item in the collection is available in four different colors; blue, burgundy, ivory, and black.  Her line also offers leggings ($48) and her signature accessory, the Dolly Print Scarf ($25), which was recently featured in Seventeen magazine.

The Lauren Conrad Collection mirrors that of a true Angelino girl...sexy, chic, and simple.  There aren't a lot of frilly accents or ornamental cuts to LC's designs.  Some designers take on the approach of adding as many beads, buttons, and cuts to catch the eye of the consumer.  But in actuality, less is more.  As consumers, we seek the comfort and versatility that can be found in this fashion line.  The Lauren Conrad Collection is a "kick ass" line that has similar traits to that of her successful show; it's captivating, real, and trendy.
