Boutique: popKiller

Nestled discreetly at the intersection of Gardner and Sunset lies a whimsical location for lovers of vintage-flair. The colorful walls of popKiller are filled with shoes, masks and odd trinkets - mainly in small, bite-sized pieces.
Must sees of this Japanese Wonderland are the ever-changing plastic cases, arm bands in the shape of scorpions and optical wonders that inform the public you are a force to be reckoned with and go against the grain.
Forget about the faux-Coke can that acts as a discrete "safe" as there is serious fashion to be had at this popular mainstay. Alongside the massive collection of vintage t-shirts, Mexican wrestling masks, Japanese-inspired Rolling Stones tees, dyed military jackets, abstruse shirts, 80/20 kicks and vintage flannel, this gem has gag-gifts to suit anyone's fancy.
Still, amongst the imported lighters with crazy quotes are heavenly vintage and contemporary frocks, like a Rojas silver metallic dress and endless selections from local and Japanese designers. Again, vibrant sunglasses overflow on tabletops and there is a special glass case for pretty paraphernalia in the form of, uh, specialty pipes and incense.
The gentle staff is very laid back and friendly - especially for establishments of this cool-kind/Asian-hipster stature. The store combines humor and edge both effectively and efficiently.
If popKiller was a Nintendo 64 game (which they happen to have for sale) you'd have to blow on it to make it work. They kick it old school and provide you that vintage look with actual vintage clothes - none of the outdated, pre-fade shirts you find at other mall specialty shops.
The prices may be a little bit steep and may get you in the pocket, but if you want to achieve a look that shows you played Ms. Pac-Man and mastered it oh so well, popKiller is definitely the place for you!
The best part of it all is that there's not just one location but two to serve you and if by chance you don't have the time to visit them in person, you can also visit and make your crazy purchase online!
So, bring yourself back to the days before you were born and show the world that you've got just what it takes to be hip by heading over to popKiller - you'll be glad you did it!
