Best and Worst Dressed at the Oscars

Honestly, I didn't even watch the 80th Annual Academy Awards last night. I didn't see any movie that was nominated, nor do I care to see it. Luckily, I did tune in for the best part of the awards...the Red Carpet Pre-Show. To my surprise, the red carpet was quite dull this year. There was a bunch of bling, but not a lot of spark. But like always, there were some fashion do's and too many fashion don'ts. I must say, I only knew about 3 people on my Best and Worst Dressed at the Oscars list this year. Although I don't know much about movies or acting, I do know fashion.
Best Dressed
Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz was stunning in this navy, feather embellished gown by Chanel. She didn't over do it with the diamonds since the feathers were basically her accessory. I really liked her look.
Heidi Klum

A few fashionistas were not feeling Heidi's dress last night. Yes, she does look like a Barbie doll in her dramatic John Galliano gown, but somehow it works. I like the hair, the make-up, and the dashing husband accessory.
Renee Zellweger

Renee Zellweger sparkled in this sexy Carolina Herrera gown. Even though her hair looked like she just woke up, she still looked fabulous.
Jennifer Gardner

Jennifer rocked the hell out of her black Oscar de la Renta gown. I absolutely love the bottom of this dress. I also enjoyed her fierce model face as she walked down the red carpet. She knew she looked great.
Katherine Heigl

Marilyn, is that you? Katherine Heigl defined "Hollywood Glam" last night. This girl never disappoints me. Her one shoulder red Escada gown was a definite hit on the red carpet.
Worst Dressed
Rebecca Miller and Daniel Day-Lewis

It's bad enough that she wore this Christmas present inspired gown on the red carpet. But to have it seen again by millions once her husband won the Best Actor award is a total embarrassment. Daniel looked a hot mess too but I'm willing to give him a slight pass since I assume he's a very fine actor. By the way, are those black and white striped shoes?!
Diablo Cody

It's a jungle out there! And Diablo Cody is wearing it! I heard that the Juno screenwriter is a bit corky, but leopard print at the Oscars is a no-no. The VMA's would've been a more appropriate show for this gown.
Tilda Swinton

I guess they were giving out Oscars to all the worst dressed people that night. Tilda Swinton won Best Supporting Actress for some film, but was the worst on the red carpet. And I'm not sure why she has the "I pledge allegiance..." stance that we did in grammar school.
Julie Christie

Do you know who she is? Because I sure don't. Is she an actor, director, wife of director? Whoever she is, she looked a mess. Pink sheer sleeves on a burgundy dress with pink shoes? Yuck!
Melora Hardin

I couldn't find out who she was either. But I do know that I'm getting a headache just looking at her "outer space" dress. Not a good look!
