When a special occasion requires an extraordinary commemoration (and the budget permits a splurge) Valentino's is definitely the number one destination Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.
This is a place to order classics starters like paper-thin San Daniele prosciutto or the burrata Pugliese. Steaks and chops are fixtures, but the roasted Italian branzino is a pure-noted, subtle treasure.
An "Italian Traditions" prix fixe menu includes scrumtuous Sicilian eggplant and pepper caponata, unctuous lamb osso buco in Barolo wine, fragrant saffron risotto cakes, and artisanal gelato. The wine list is extensive, and if you plan well-enough in advance, request to sit upstairs on the ultra-romantic patio.
