RESTAURANT REVIEW
La2day’s choice for Silver Lake restaurant: Cafe Stella!
What is it? It’s a cute French bistro kind of restaurant and bar on Sunset Junction with a beautiful big outdoors courtyard on the street surrounded by an old-fashioned hair salon and authentic cheese store. Cafe Stella serves typical French food like onion soup, steak au poivre and plates with cheeses, charcuterie, as well as a great choice of wines, mostly French of course.
Our experience... we had dinner during the Sunset Junction festival so it was extremely crowded in the neighborhood. Luckily, the waiter had us seated instantly and was very helpful when we wanted to change to a more quiet table in order for me to have some more quality time with my lover. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the interesting looking, hip, fashionable & open-minded crowd very much.
Best for… I would say it’s perfect to have dinner with a group of friends, it’s very alive but in a charming way. You can hear music coming from the bar (saloon style) inside. For romantic dining or a quiet conversation it is probably better to go on a weekday when it gets a little bit more quiet. The food was great and the bill was all right, certainly not cheap but also not too much.
Unique because.... having dinner on the outdoor patio of Cafe Stella truly makes you feel like you’re in Paris! It provides the kind of charm that is hard to find in LA.
