AN IPHONE FOR DINNER
By MRP FOR LA2DAY.COM 19 Sep 2007

Let's pretend for a moment that you have unlimited amounts of money. Then, let's put you in a city with lots of other people with unlimited amounts of money. What kind of restaurants would pop up? Below are just a handful of the most expensive meals on the regular menu. Yeah, that's right, not specially chef created dishes for private parties in the champagne room, these are prices based on menu items regularly available.
Melisse
It is a nice evening for two - maybe you do a 3 course on the cheap, or a 4 course on a whim. You get a reasonable bottle of wine (sorry, no Crystal tonight). You receive the bill. Upon awaking at the intensive care unit in the year 2009, assuming they charge no interest, you could easily have a bill around $650.

Polo Lounge
Don't think that because this restaurant is settled in the Beverly Hills Hotel that it isn't as nice as the standalones that dot the Beverly Hills scene. A date here could easily set you back $600+, but who is keeping score? (psst: she is!)

La Cachette
Mmmm, tastes like money. With a name like La Cachette (think "cache", or a place to store money), this is one restaurant where your credit card will actually weigh less upon exit. I realize that is a physical impossibility, be we have long ago moved out of the realm of "reasonable" or "rational". An amazing restaurant like this can do funny things to the laws of physics.

Petrossian Hollywood
The king of caviar, you can spend the average annual per-capita salary in several small countries in a single sitting. And, unlike the other restaurants on the list, you really can't justify going here and not getting the caviar. It is worth every cente.

Providence
Hmmm, iPhone or dinner? That's right, with the correct combination of caviar and entrees, Providence blows away the competition with a nearly $500/person dinner. You can leave here for only $60 (less than some of the restaurants above), but you will be the cheapest patron they have seen in years.

Great concept for a review!
Great concept for a review! Morbid curiousity, drooling reverence, pompous assyness--good times....
