Cardboard Robot: Saving the World with Style
By LA2DAY FOR LA2DAY.COM 04 Apr 2008

The cardboard box is evolving. No longer just the ubiquitous building block of homes on Skid Row, cardboard has been modernized, utilized, and stylized. Thanks to Cardboard Robot.
Who is this cardboard robot? Aren’t robots supposed to be made out of metal? The answer, in the company's own words:
“The Cardboard Robot is a gang of the craziest
misfits, dorks, & geeks you might ever come across.
Led into the golden age of American
ideals and rejecting all that is deemed "safe"
paving the way for an individualistic army of ones...
ZEROS AND ONES, ZEROS AND ONES,
00101010010101010000101101110....
multiplying into an army of free-thinkers,
artists intellects and rejects.....”
In other words…a funky-punk, environmentally conscious design company based out of Long Beach that has taken recycling to a whole new level with their cardboard furniture.
The minimalist, architecturally inspired pieces are constructed with classic bridge building principles that make them impervious to up to a ton of human weight. Not bad for cardboard. Chairs, shelves, couches, and more- all made to order out of recyclable materials.
When you’re done sitting around on your cardboard loveseat feeling good about saving the world, you can go get dressed in CR. These guys have got talent. Not only can they decorate your home, but they can decorate you with their original, street inspired clothing line and accessories. I'm partial to their bullet icons and prints, but what I’m really waiting to see is a cardboard hoody.
